Lewis, Eoin, Mark and Oisin are four of my favourite people in the world and they play in the incredible Enemies. Enemies just keep getting better and better with every release they put out into the world.
I've had the joy, the pleasure and downright privilege to have been given opportunities to support this band on a couple of occasions when I was playing drums in Yachts. It's one thing to listen to a recording of an amazing band, it's another to be able to watch them play live and it's another altogether to have them come to my rainy hometown of Preston and play on the same stage as my band.
Something that I will never, ever forget.
They've released some of my all time favourite music; music that I relate to some beautiful moments in my life and music that I will forever associate with some of my happiest memories.
They've released some of my all time favourite music; music that I relate to some beautiful moments in my life and music that I will forever associate with some of my happiest memories. A couple of years back, Oisin (the ex-drummer of Enemies), one of my biggest inspirations and aspirations in drumming, decided to leave Enemies. At the time, I thought that this would be the unfortunate and emotional end of their musical gifts.
Oh how wrong I was!
They've come back with a new drummer (Micheál Quinn), a new track called "Play Fire" and blown me away again. Take 5 minutes, sit back and admire the beauty in the video, the brilliance in the music and immerse yourself in the whole entity that is Enemies. If you do ever get the possibility to watch Enemies live, I strongly recommend it. They're one of those bands that sound better live than they do on any recording.
