Hacknorth

Problem

Hacknorth wanted to create a simple yet memorable mark that reflected the nature of the event. It needed to be fun but professional and usable for event artwork and promotional items. The final requirement was to create a logo that would be re-usable year after year if the event gained traction and was organised again in the future.

Solution

Playing with the "geek" idea, I illustrated a pair of taped up, thick rimmed glasses for the ultimate hacker cliche style and combined this with a lightning bolt to give it some more power. Coupling the glasses idea with 2 different weights of a clean and strong typeface, I was able to achieve a logo that ticked the box of professional yet fun. By keeping the overall colour scheme to a minimum, this ensured that the branding idea that I created had an infinite amount of possible applications.
