More often than I'd like to admit, I stumble across something online and before I know it, I've become fully engrossed in it. Call it fascination, obsession or just my magpie-esque tendencies but these "habits" end up costing me a lot of time and even more money.
For the longest time, I've been intrigued by how other designers/developers work and the tools they use. Whether this is purely voyeuristic or due to my fear of missing out, I genuinely don't know. That being said, the feeling seems to be mutual amongst other people that I meet and as a result, I thought I'd throw this post together that documents what I use and how I use it for anyone interested.
Weekends now get reserved for family time and what better way to spend a bit of family time than exploring the beach front. Southport will always hold a dear place in my heart, i took my now wife on our first date to Southport on the back of my motorbike and the rest is history 👍
After 4 years of amazing memories, challenges and incredible changes in our lives, we’ve just sold our first home together, it's time to move on to the next chapter.
If you’re looking at selling your house, I can’t fault emoov at all. As far as I’m concerned, seeing how quickly our property sold, emoov are proof that shop front estate agency is slowly falling by the wayside.
It's pretty incredible how much your life, feelings and emotions change when you have a child. I never imagined it would be any different but experiencing it first hand is something else.
Apparantly i've unwittingly stumbled into a new hobby in the form of collecting playing cards. Like everything else i seem to find myself obsessing over, it's amazing how deep the rabbit hole goes. So many variations, designs, paper stocks and community hype exists.Oh well... Down the rabbit hole i go.
Where has time gone? So far this year i have turned 30, become a father to an awesome little guy and today, me and my wife are celebrating our 2 year (Cotton) wedding anniversary. Ridiculous!
Another fantastic Wes Anderson film. 100% recommend Isle of Dogs if you even remotely enjoy his films.
Premise: An overpowering country leader banishes all dogs to an island full of rubbish and a boy travels to this island to find him. Plus, the sushi scene might be the most aesthetically pleasing piece of cinema i've seen.

Just over 2 weeks and 4 days early, our little guy decided that he'd done his time and was ready to come join us. In that moment, literally everything that i’d always thought i'd be afraid of actually came to fruition and was lying there in front of me in all his pink, naked, sticky skinned glory. I was (and still am) in total awe of him in every possible way.
Ask a developer of any kind what they use for their local development environment setup and you'll inevitably be given a response with such conviction that you'll wonder why you're not doing the same as they are. I'd hazard a guess that there's probably infinite different methods, setups and softwares available that ultimately all end with the same result.
Freelancing or being self-employed sometimes isn’t a viable option for some career paths, but for designers and developers, it’s a very real and occasionally, a very worthwhile option both financially and mentally. Providing you’re ready to fully commit to your decision and ultimately, your future; going freelance can change your life.
